BMW X2 Sports Car

The 2018 BMW X2 is a new sporty SUV crossover from BMW

It's just the beginning of 2017, but BMW (Bayerische Motoren Werke AG), one of the world's best-selling luxury manufacturers, is preparing to shock the globe with one of its greatest crossover models in the coming year of 2018.

The new SUV, which is immaculately clothed, is positioned between the X1 and the X3, earning it the moniker BMW X2 SUV.

The preview model of the 2018 BMW X2 was first seen at the 2016 Paris Motor Show and is expected to stick to the design concepts described last year, with only a few minor tweaks - all of which are expected to be good.

It will be the third and smallest product in its category to be introduced. Let's take a closer look.

BMW X2 Concept, 2018

According to BMW's design team, the X2 concept was developed to provide a balance of fun and functionality.

The automobile is a sturdy construction of its counterpart X1 series because it combines a superb balance of rapid-moving body language with low-slung coupe proportions.

The 2018 BMW X2's Exterior and Interior Design

The 2018 BMW X2's front appearance is defined by a large kidney grille flanked by skinny headlights with BMW's signature LEDs.

On the other hand, the car's large front bumper and silver lower trim give it its much-discussed rough SUV aspect.

Furthermore, the SUV coupe has a low roofline with tiny windows in the back, which complements the X2 design cue. Even though it looks more like a hatchback than a sports car, it is touted to combine the best of both worlds.

Moving front, the broad wheels provide the 2018 BMW X2 with a muscular appearance. The wide 21-inch wheels, on the other hand, offer the automobile a robust profile.

The tailgate, on the other hand, isn't precisely what we've seen in past BMW hatchbacks like the X4 or X6. The BMW X2 has a more realistic aspect, despite its exquisite design.

Furthermore, the X2 should have a centrally situated BMW emblem framed by thin taillights and a number plate that is affixed to the bumper, as shown at the Paris Motor Show. Much comparable to what we've seen in the car marque's 1st hatch series.

Interior of the 2018 BMW X2

The interiors of this raging beast are anticipated to be inspired by the exquisite cabin of BMW's new 5 Series. BMW's new gesture control functions are built into a standalone infotainment display that fits directly on top of a basic central console.

There will be two treatments available for the dashboard: wood-effect and polished metal.

The X2's roofline might be a turn-off for tall passengers, so don't expect to be comfy in the rear on lengthy trips. Legroom is also a problem.

BMW X2 Engine, 2018

The X2 will be built on the same UKL1 platform as the BMW X1 and Mini Countryman. As a result, it's anticipated to have front-wheel drive and come in four primary variants: three diesel engines and one gasoline engine.

A six-speed manual transmission will be standard on entry-level vehicles. Drivers, on the other hand, will be able to choose between a smooth eight-speed automatic transmission and a manual transmission.

Driving the 2018 BMW X2

The base 2018 BMW X2 will have a 148hp diesel engine, while the mid-range SUVs will most likely have 187hp and 227hp engines.

To give you an idea, the current X1 features a 148hp diesel engine that gets a fantastic 68.9mpg. The 227-horsepower version goes from zero to sixty-six miles per hour in less than 6.6 seconds. These data offer us a sense of what X2 could be able to match or surpass.

Moving forward, no such information on the 2018 BMW X2's drivetrain is currently accessible.

However, insider rumors say that the production model will have a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine, with the top-end vehicles getting a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine featuring BMW's twin-turbo technology.

The 2018 BMW X2's Release Date and Price

The Munich-based automaker aims to begin distributing the 2018 BMW X2 in the second quarter of 2017.

The price of the crossover is expected to be approximately $35,000, which is comparable to the X1 (base model). A larger crossover will cost around $38,000. The price will vary depending on whether you choose diesel or gasoline.
